Bringing Wildlife Back — Biodiversity Restoration Made Simple
Rebuilding Nature
We Are in a Climate and Biodiversity Crisis
Across the UK, and here in Shropshire and the West Midlands, the last 50 years have seen a well-documented decline in the number and diversity of birds, butterflies, and insects. Remember when a summer drive meant returning home with a windscreen covered in insects? That simply doesn’t happen anymore — and that absence tells a powerful story.

Why Nature Matters
Nature isn’t just “nice to have”; it’s essential. Healthy ecosystems provide ecosystem services such as:
- Cleaning our air
- Regulating our climate
- Reducing flooding
- Filtering pollutants from the atmosphere and rivers
- Pollinating crops
- Supporting countless species that depend on one another
Beyond these practical benefits, nature is also essential for mental health and wellbeing. Seeing a bird soar overhead or a butterfly drift past is a small but powerful reminder of the natural world around us.
The Power of Local Action
Reversing biodiversity decline is possible — and it starts locally.
- 70% of the UK is farmland.
- There are over 23 million gardens, an area larger than all our nature reserves combined.
- Spaces like workplaces, school grounds, village greens, and business parks also hold incredible potential.
By planting the right plants in the right places and creating diverse habitats, we can attract invertebrates and insects that support birds, bats, hedgehogs, and other wildlife. Through biodiversity restoration in Shropshire and the surrounding areas, we can rebuild nature from the ground up — and enjoy the benefits ourselves.

About Us
Quercus Biodiversity Solutions, based in Shropshire, was founded by Kat Hinton, who has been passionate about the natural world since childhood walks on the North York Moors, and volunteering with her local Wildlife Trust as a teenager.
With years of experience across the conservation sector, Kat has worked with landowners, communities, and organisations to create and restore wildlife habitats across Shropshire and beyond. She is also an experienced public speaker, skilled at engaging diverse audiences and helping them understand the potential of habitat creation.
